Canvas Login Canvas Support

All Hamilton parents should register with both Canvas and ParentVue.

Here's why, and how.  These academic websites provide the following kinds of support:

  • Canvas helps you keep on top of your students' grades and stay in touch with your child's teachers.  It provides a special private way to contact your students' teachers by email.  It also lets you see what assignments your student is working on, what work is missing, and your child's quiz and test grades.
  • ParentVue lets parents review their child's year to year and school to school progress, track steps towards high school graduation, and update contact information (address and phone numbers).  Plus--this is really important--students use ParentVue to make their high school choice selection when they finish Eighth Grade!

If you have previously registered on both systems, great! Parents, please take a moment to confirm that you can log in to both sites:  Canvas and ParentVue.  [Note:  Student information is not visible on Canvas until after classes begin.]

If you've forgotten your password for either site, it's easy to recover.  Go to the parent login screen of either Canvas or ParentVue.  Click the "Forgotten password" link.  Provide your email address and the information you need will automatically be emailed to you.

CREATING A PARENT CANVAS ACCOUNT & GETTING A PAIRING CODE USING DESKTOP COMPUTER OR CHROMEBOOK

Getting a Pairing Code

(Students must be logged into their Canvas account to access the Pairing code).

Step 1: Get Pairing Code from Student’s Canvas account.

  • Have your student log in and click on the account button, directly below the district logo, in the top left corner of the page.

  • Click on Settings.

  • On the right side of the screen, click Pair with the Observer.

  • Note the Pairing Code.

 

 

Step 2:  Parents log into your parent Canvas account (detailed directions on next page).

  • When prompted for a pairing code, use the Pairing Code created by your student, 

  • Use the code within 7 days before it expires.


Notes: 

  • A Pairing Code is required for each student enrolled in Canvas.

  • For parents of secondary students, the pairing code will link you to all classes that your child is enrolled in.

  • ALL students can be accessed using one Canvas account. (Students must have logged into their Canvas account for the pairing code to be available).

 

LOGGING IN TO YOUR PARENT CANVAS ACCOUNT 

Step 1: Open the LBUSD website and select the Parents tab. Under the parent tab, click on Canvas.
 
Step 2: Click on the Parent of a Canvas User link on the top right corner to create a Parent Account.
Step 3: Add your information as well as the Student Pairing Code found in your student’s Canvas account. Click on the blue button to Start Participating.

Step 4: You will be redirected to the Parent Dashboard where you will find your student’s Canvas courses
